Fixing your home to sell is way too hard

I called a realtor when my wife and I wanted to sell our home.

We were thinking about retiring and moving to a place in the keys.

My wife has some family that lives in lower Florida and she wanted to be closer to them. We were living in Jacksonville at that time. I found several realtors in Jacksonville, but I ultimately chose a woman that was recommended to me by a coworker. The realtor was supposed to be one of the best in the business. The woman came to our home to look at the place and she gave us a long list of things that needed to be fixed and repaired in order to put our home on the market and get top value. I didn’t want to spend 6 months making repairs on a house that we weren’t going to live in or keep. I spoke with someone at the office about the benefits of selling our home for cash. In the right circumstance, there are a lot of potential advantages to selling your home for cash. We didn’t have to wait a long time and we didn’t have to make any of the repairs that were on the two page list from the first realtor. We didn’t have to worry that the investor went back out at the last minute. We did have to take a lower offer for our home, because it was a cash transaction and “as is” sale. Our Jacksonville property was still worth a fortune, especially since we are close to the river.
